Thanks. I've been thinking of an xtherm regular size:
Shipping from Cascade Designs is $14.40 for the regular size xtherm, $175.86 incl. shipping and tax.
Moosejaw has small and medium sizes xtherm cheaper; EMS has the large size xtherm cheaper. Both have free shipping.
Amazon matches these prices, with free shipping, but regular size is $189 :( When other major retailers have sales Amazon sometimes matches their prices, but with free shipping.
By searching google shopping, there are places selling the regular for around $150 incl shipping, but I'm not familiar with the companies.

aUSTIN kAYAK HAS THE REGULAR Xtherm in stock selling for 20% off as advertized and free shipping. These folks are in Texas. They are good people.

I could use a new pad, with all these sales it's hard to resist haha any recommendations? I've always just used the giant rectangular closed cell foam ones that take up way too much space, I'd like to get into something a little lighter and compressible, but I have no experience with self inflating pads, so I don't know where to begin.

Wayne, thanks for the recommendation; I just ordered from Austin Kayak.

TNfire, go to an outfitter and try them out, if you have a good outfitter nearby.
I like the Thermarest neoair mattresses (now called xlite or xtherm). Any of the air mattresses will be more comfortable than your foam pad. As you get older this becomes more important.
xtherm: for colder weather or winter, but is also fine for 3 season camping.
xlite: lighter in weight, should be fine for 3 season temps; for cold winter camping add a foam pad. 3 oz lighter and cheaper than xtherm in 6' length.
Size: I often get by with a 48" long pad, body on the pad, head on pack for pillow, feet hanging off a bit. On the neoair (xlite and xtherm), because they're thicker this is a bit less comfortable. So, for my purchase I got the regular xtherm (72" long); the medium might have worked for me, it's 2" shorter than I am.
These are somewhat narrow, so if you roll around at night you might want a large (on sale at EMS now).
Prolite and Prolite plus are durable, more comfortable than your foam pad, heavier than the xlite and xtherm, but cheaper.

There are other brands of inflatable mattresses that are ok, but I don't know so much about them.

Awesome, thanks for all the info, it's greatly appreciated, I come from oklahoma where all the rocks are jagged and I was always afraid I'd buy an inflatable pad and it would pop on me the first time I used it, that was before I started using a hammock though, just never thought to throw out the old pad haha

Snowleopard,
You're welcome. Always glad to help members here and a local business.
Tip on the NeoAir: A little air works best. Just enough so your midsection doesn't bottom out.
Sleep well.
