Last year a group of 4 of us were somewhere south of Waynesboro I think when out of nowhere two military jets flew right over the tree tops right on top of us! It was the loudest sound I have ever heard in my life. It happened so fast I dropped my hiking poles and stuck my fingers in my ears and it still hurt! It was nuts!
Then this year I was reading a trail journal and they reported seeing the same type situation. I guess this is common around those parts?

about 20 miles west of the AT at Rockfish gap
