Thirty days from now, PA State Games Lands will have new rules that effects everyone who enters Game Lands. (IE. most of the AT in the state.) One must pay a $40.00 pre head, per year user fee. Anyone not paying the fee is subject to fines and or jail time. This is no joke!!What does the list think about this new rule?

I've been very loosely following this for a couple of months, the drop in revenues from hunting licenses over the years really does seem to have put them in a tough spot, but at the same time I am a believer in principal that the A.T. should be free to all. If that was their final decision I'm simultaneously furious and sympathetic

Ummm well according to the Pa Game Commission, it is proposed that equestrian riders, mountian bikers, and snowmobilers would be required to have a "range permit" which costs $30 per year, to be able to ride on trails within commission game lands. Hikers and birdwatchers would not be required to hold a range permit, as covered in the link above.

This is only a proposal and a public comment opportunity is at the Sept 22 meeting of the game commission.

And there is already an on going discussion -- http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/showthread.php?104535-User-fees-for-PA-state-game-lands

Ummm...so what's the deal? Is it in effect and happening, or not? I've also been loosely following on the other post, but I thought it was still a proposal at this point.

The relevant information is in the press releqse that linked above. It is a proposal that will be considered on the 22nd and 23rd of September.

The Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners will consider the recommendation at its regular meeting to be held Sept. 22 and 23 in Delmont, Pa. The board is scheduled to hear public comment at the meeting, limited to five minutes per person, beginning at 8:30 a.m. If a vote is taken, it would occur on Sept. 23.

Are you full of BS or are you just joking around? Where did you come up with the fines and jail time because what the PROPOSAL states, is NOTHING like you stated!
