IMO your "class" would be the year you finished. Or maybe it's the year you showed up at Harpers Ferry to have your photo taken. (I'm in a similar position, finished in '07 but started many years earlier... in fact, hard to say just when the heck I started...)

Seems to me the class would be when you finished...or how about the average mean.

I've heard it as 'AT thru hiker class of (year)'. Which would seem to be needed to be a thru hiker for that, and in all respect, the class which is the the AT life experience, really comes from being a thru hiker (this coming from a long time section hiker before my thru - totally different experence). I'm sure you will agree once you thru.

But that being said it would be the year you graduate, or reach Katahdin for NoBo's.

Thanks all! I have been using 07 as my finish date. My original hike started out to be a thru, ending with a dislocated ankle near Damascus, VA. Maybe, just maybe another thru attempt is in my future.
