Brands like Ragu and Prego as well as others have cheesy sauces other than alfredo. Does anyone know how well these bottled sauces dry and then rehydrate?

I dry mac and cheese dishes all the time and there's no problem. Here's a bunch of already-cooked mac/cheese ready to be dried.

Why not buy some cheese powder instead? I have used Cabot powdered cheddar in backpacking meals and it is delicious. A little expensive at $13 for 8 oz, and there are other brands out there. I have only tried Cabot though.

So nobody out there in the food drying world has dried the cheese sauces that come in a jar?

I'm sure someone has. Can't say I know personally how it would come out.

I have done the tomatoe based sauces, using a leathers tray, works fine. About 1/3 of a jar for a serving. With NO meat. I dehydrate ground beef (gravel) separately, then package together dried, with 1 cup quick cook pasta and 1/8 tsp salt. Makes a great beef-a-roni.

Never tried cheesey sauce. If it is a high oil cheese it might be a big problem. If you try it, use high temperature.

looks great just avoid the generics or take offs. Added Nido is a home run.
