Before u going on a gear buying spree I strongly advise seeking advice from places where past thru hikers work....save your money as many buy crap you will toss..mountain crossings at neel gap or other outfitters will save u money in long run...some rei have knowledgeable staff...

The concept of the bike tent is pretty cool. Using the bike for the tent's structure much like some hikers use trekking pole supported shelters.

Not really IMHO !!
Well it makes the bike multi-use doesn't it? I can't comment on the design of that specific tent but why not use the bike's structure as part of the shelter if it saves some weight?

Trust me I won't be buying any of these. Well maybe the bike tent for mountain biking but I normal stay at camp ground area during during MTB trips. Most of my friends prefer a hotel but I prefer to set up a tent. The only worry is having a very expensive mountain bike stolen.
Some of these would be really cool if you had a ton of money, lots of property, and kids.
