Hey folks. I just started writing outdoor articles for a local newspaper called the Lewistown Sentinel. I'm thinking about writing a feature on anyone from the Lewistown/State College area that has thru-hiked the trail recently. Send me an email or private message. [email protected] Thanks

HMMMmmm...State College. I used to live there.
The Mid State Trail comes to mind, Sayers Dam, Stone Valley, Shingletown Gap.
Beautiful place.

State College is wonderful; I'm living in Bellefonte right now and I can't believe it is 69 degrees in October! Crazy!

Dan, not to hijack this thread, but do you know of any rock climbing gyms in the Central PA region?

And unfortunately, during my time around the trail, I didn't meet a single Central PA person who was thru-hiking this year...a couple PSU alums, but no residents of the area. Good luck--I hope you find one! :)

Rollergirl,

Vertical Reality in Williamsport is probably your closest bet for an indoor rock gym.

I actually just wrote an article about rock climbing. The YMCA's in Lewistown and State College both have rock climbing gyms. If you dont mind a bit of a drive, Climbnasium in Mechanicsburg is pretty big. Its the most extensive gym in Central PA I think. Check out http://www.climbnasium.net and there is http://www.indoorclimbing.com/pennsylvania.html for a listing of all PA gyms. Ive been to climbnasium and its pretty solid.

I accidentally erased all of my emails, so whoever sent me an email entitled "PA hikers" or something similar, could you please resend it. Thanks
