Hi;
I want to purchase the Katadyn Vario for short-duration backpacking and also in case of a prolonged water emergency - you know; survivalist prep.
When I purchase the filter system, I would think it wise to also purchase at least one replacement filter element, and the replacement carbon.
Does anyone know what the shelf life of a sealed Vario filter element - stored at optimal (room temp not to exceed 90F or below freezing (although I wouldn't think that freezing a sealed - never been wet filter would hurt it).
The last filter I had was a Pur Explorer, and I had a spare filter which had an expiration date stamped on the box. If I recall correctly, it was 10 years, but I want to make sure it would be the same for the Katadyn.
