Just published - new Continental Divide National Scenic Trail Mapbook for New Mexico reflecting recent changes and water information based upon hiker's reports from this past season. Northbound hikers were hiking in a historical drought, so this reflects the best water information ever. A number of water sources not directly on the trail but close enough to use were also added. The waypoint code WS has been added to WT which was used in the past. Water sources that had water when we hiked during a normal year which were dry this year are now WS, which means "Water Seasonal". These should be considered to be unreliable in dry times.

There are some significant new trail reroutes that eliminate road walks. One is in the vicinity of Pietown, and several others are in the Carson National Forest.
Waypoint data matching the maps will soon be available at no cost at www.bearcreeksurvey.com (http://www.bearcreeksurvey.com/) . For the first time, digital versions of the books will also be available to be ordered from the website. The print versions will stay at Lulu. http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/bearcreek1035

The new waypoint files are not finished yet - I should have them on the website in a day or two. The Guthook application will also be updated later this winter. If anybody has already gotten it, the upgrade will be free.

Yes, you got the 2014 version. When there are changes in a state I try to get them surveyed during the summer and processed & published each fall. The only significant changes along the entire CDT for 2015 hikers are in NM. There is one change in WY and one in MT, but they were not significant enough to re-publish this time. They will be surveyed as part of a large package of new trail that will open next summer in the vicinity of Butte, MT. Maps for those two changes will be available for free download from http://www.bearcreeksurvey.com (The Montana one is already available) The waypoint and track files this year will have them as well.

The updates for the Leed's Creek reroute in Wyoming are now posted at: http://www.bearcreeksurvey.com/map_updates.htm

If you have been wondering what the Mapbook maps look like, this is a good way to find out at no cost. Be sure to download the two for Montana Seg 2 and two for WY Seg 16. With these additions, all the Mapbooks are ready to go for the 2015 season.

Now onwards to updating the Guthook app.
