Has anyone dehydrated some??

I'm making up one now to cook in foil over the coals this week end. I sure do love me some meatloaf!!

I'm pondering two approaches:
1. make a meatloaf all the way and then dehydrate. how would rehydration work??
2 Make up the meatloaf mixture and then dry it. It would wind up loose like gravel. Then, with a half day presoak and a rehydration with "just enough" water, it might come out like scrambled meatloaf??

Opinions, please

Option 2 sounds like seasoned ground beef. ;) Perfect to add to mashed potatoes.

I've dehydrated my meatloaf, thin slices on the dehydrator. then to rehydrate, add boiling water to the ziplock baggie, just enough to wet the slice(s). I zip shut the baggie & place it in my cozy for about 5 min., kneading the bag so that the meatloaf soaks up the water.

serve over instant mashed potatoes. great if you also dehydrate applesauce (mine is home-made). . .my applesauce rehydrates in a snack-size ziplock baggie.

I had to lend him cash to get out of a Stamford CT parking garage.

I love meatloaf (the food)! May have to try drying it one day. :)
