I was just by there on Tuesday afternoon and evening. Stayed there with 2 SOBO thru hikers. The shelter register was signed by at least a dozen more. Even the "Bear hunters" signed, saying thanks to the hikers who called the phone #found on a few hunting dog's collars who were at and near the shelter. Seems like several thru hikers now in the area and will be in the GSMNP during this cold and snow currently going on. I met 6 other thrus in my 2 days in the area. The 2 I stayed with were really nice hikers. Anyone out should recognize one a hiker wearing Chaco sandals and oven type plastic bags.:eek:
