Leaving today to drive to Damascus, then shuttle to 19E. Hiking back to Damascus with my son. Looking forward to the trail!
Nice easy hike, enjoy!
After the climb away from 19E you can rock and roll all the way to Watauga Lake, then climb up the ridge and sail into Damascus. This is one of my favorite hikes when I feel like walking but not doing a lot of climbing.
For me, the best part would be being with my son.

Hope you brought some warm clothes - sounds like it will be really chilly down that way this week.

Going down into the low 20s- upper teens this week, hike safe. A lot of the Damascus hostels and B&Bs are closed.

Sounds like good hiking weather to me with good gear!
