as the subject entails. Will be arriving late, can we camp here?
If you are arriving late and wish to just camp, from the parking lot just step into the woods sobo and have sites 20-30 yards in, stream for water just a little further.

yes. just in the woods about 100 feet

I did just that 10 years ago, plenty of nice spots in the woods on the AT south. I found some nice ramps to go with supper not much farther back up the trail. There was more traffic driving through the road all night that I expected.

These spots are very close to the road And are heavily used, if you feel that's too close to the road, you can hike up the hill nobo a few 100 yards & grab a spot up in the field and you possibly see a super sunrise!

This time of year pretty relaxed scene, 100yds nobo don't be surprised wakin up to a thousand pound steer stickin his nose in ur shelter.
