The temps are barely above freezing outside during the day. Can I use a mild soup and water to wash it off and then spray with garden hose to let air dry in those temps?

Won't work. Only one answer......... You will have to buy that ounce and half cuben shelter that you've been coveting. :)

oy! That stinks (pun intended, haha). Sorry for your loss. I love my cats. But I hate them sometimes, too... :(

If soap and water doesn't work, try Nature's Miracle for Cats http://www.amazon.com/Natures-Miracle-Advanced-24-Ounce-P-5723/dp/B002L4D1EU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1416793633&sr=8-2&keywords=natures+miracle+cat

Best wishes!

No problem with washing your tent at those temperatures. It will take many washings and much airing to get the odor to a tolerable level.

How large is the area affected? If it's smallish, you might cut it out and patch.

Prefer not to throw away, burn it or cut out the area affected b/c it's a brand new tent. Will try soap and water tomorrow.

I have no answers, but the thread title brought a smile and a chuckle, I have to admit. Sorry.

Before you start:

My step-brother uses Rug Doctor pet odor product for his cats urine odor.

I have used an effective The Pet Store product: Pwweew!

Well, some brand name like that. It works, but on a tent. I don't know.

"Patagonia Product Care" webpage has lots of information about stains... Maybe right there is an answer?

Hey, look for information from that brand tent?

They make some sprays that are supposed to consume the smell... I bought some when my kid was little and in potty training.

Take the cat to the pound and buy some spray on the way home.

I should mention that "nature's miracle" is the brand of enzyme spray that I buy by the gallon for our pets, can be bought at most pet stores. I've never tried it on silnylon, but it works on all the other materials that I've used it on.

What kind of soup were you thinking of using?

Pee soup, of course!

Couldn't help myself. Sorry. The Nature's Miracle thing just about always works. I can sympathize, as I've had those kinds of things happen myself - just not my tent. (My kayak seat. . . smelled cat pee for 15 miles once going down the river.)

There's also a product called "Sink the Stink" you can get from most dive shops. I understand their gear stinks a lot, and they use it. I got it for the kayak, and it works. It's very, very concentrated, so you use a tiny bit in water and scrub, let dry, etc. I'd try the Nature's Miracle first, as it is designed for this specific purpose. I also think it would be milder on the tent fabric.

Don't bring any more toxic chemicals into your house. Just use vinegar.

The cat was just marking its territory. Now you have to buy your own tent.
