Has anyone seen or heard about a new movie (that will soon play in the big screen near you) about a lady that hikes the PCT?

It's "Wild" with Reese Witherspoon, adapted from a popular biography by Cheryl Strayed.

I saw it as a sneak preview last week and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I liked the book and it held my interest, but it's by no means a hiking documentary. But they did a good job weaving in the hiking with Strayed's backstory.

It starts playing in theaters Dec. 5. Pretty good trailer IMO. I'm going.

I'll watch it . It looks good. Her gear still looks ridiculous though.

Best if you have time to read the book first.

Probably fairly standard in 1995

If you've read the book, you know that she wasn't well-prepared for the hike, and did it on an absolutely minimal budget. It's hardly a reference on how to hike the PCT.

I am betting against myself that my wife will not suddenly want to do long distance backpacking with me

....going to see it this weekend. 1st first-run movie since like James Bond in the 60's

I will most likely see the show....

I hope that Witherspoon gets out and does some "real hiking" to see what it is all about.......

It's called "WILD", I have read the book it was alright but most backpacking movies i have seen have been really cheesy, but i do plan to see "WILD". but the AT movie based on bill bryson's book i feel that it will be straight up "STUPID" if it's anything like the book.
