Looking for a hiking partner for some possible upcoming Dec hikes. I am limited to weekends. I can drive to location after work Friday and night hike a couple of miles but nothing more than that. I will have all day Saturday and either part of all day Sunday depending on weekend and hike.
These are some hikes I wanted to do.
Bartram Trail - Warwoman Dell to Osage Mt. Overlook ~ 21 miles
AT - I-40/Standing Bear Hostel to Hot Springs.
Benton MacKaye Trail - Southern GA section of the trail.
Anyone interested?

Me and my lady are starting around the 18th at Springer. Not sure if our paths will meet....wish you the best of luck if not.
i have a 3 day weekend on the december 6 weekend and i havent figured out a route yet.....
might be interested in a portion of the hot springs AT hike........

I was looking at a short section hike this weekend in this area too. Maybe Stecoa Gap to the NOC. How far were you planning to hike the Hot Springs area? Only issue may be my 12 yr old daughter going. Not sure how many miles she can cover in a weekend.
I was hoping to do it Saturday and Sunday. Meet at hot springs. Shuttle down to standing bear, hike north. It looks like there is parking on or near max patch, which would make it a much more manageable 13 mile section. It looks like there is another parking location at garenflo gap, which would be 16 miles.
I still haven't fully planned this hike. I don't know the area and need to do some research. I am trying to section hike my way to Virginia at least :).
If the weather doesn't change I may have to postpone this hike. I'd like to visit max patch on a clear day.
I may just do a local day hike instead. I will keep my eye out on the weather.

16 is definitely a doable hike for us. Let me know what you decide if you want a partner. I've been over Max Patch before and it is great on a clear day. I may hit Panthertown this weekend anyway.

Will do. Just an FYI, I called standing bear hostel and a shuttle from Hot Springs to Hostel is $70. To park car at the hostel it is $5/car/night.

Yea, I probably can't swing that. The weather looks good for Saturday. May hike the section from Stecoa Gap to the NOC. Welcome to join if you like. I have a free shuttle available there!
