For those stopping in Great Barrington, I'd highly recommend "The Gypsy Joynt".

Found the place on Yelp, and really enjoyed the food and drink and music there on Friday and Saturday. Run by a family that moved up from NC about 5 years ago. Hard to capture in a post. Owner said they hold onto thru hiker packs for those who want to explore the town.

Seriously, the place was just great.

The owner's son also wrote the song that gets stuck in my head whenever I'm out on the A.T. His albums are for sale at the front counter of the restaurant.

A frequent after hike stop for the group I organize, very hiker friendly and food and drink is fantastic.

Rick, you should also check out Baba Louie's Pizza which is across the street and down a block from Gypsy Joynt. Baba Louie's makes an amazing sour dough pizza and I usually buy one from their pickup window (located in the building's main breezeway) after every hike in the area. I also have friends who live in the center of Great Barrington and we usually alternate between these two restaurants when we're visiting them.

Hey STE, it it took me several decades to find Great Barrington, but less than 48 hours to find both places. I may be beyond hope though-- our total AT miles during the same period was under 3. Hope to do better in that department next time we pass through. Not sure why the AT in MA south of the pike has been so off my radar. Not sure if I ever had a better pizza than the spelt crust one at Baba Louie's, I will admit.
