Moose are mean...they will stomp the dokey out of a dog team..

U esp have to watch out for them after a heavy snow,,if you are running your packed sled trail,,,you must get off the trail and let them pass...

here is a shot of a cow and calf that I took this summer ..they were right beside my firewood shed.

They just had a piece on NPR the other day about the moose population in New England growing rapidly. And they are traveling further and further south for food/territory. They may even open up moose hunting in CT in the not so distant future to control the population.

My wife is half Swedish (that's Halv-Svensk). We have moose stuff all over our house, the Swedes are freaky for them.

"titta! Titta! Dar Stor en Alg! (pronounced Teeta! Teeta! Dar Stoor an Elya!)

That's Swedish for, "Look look! There stands a moose!"

Note: I don't have a key for the appropriate Swedish punctuation, but you get the gist.

Nice Steve,

Is that woodpile about what it takes to get through a winter up there?

How do you deal with your water issues in the winter?

nope..takes more...got other wood cut in piles and stacked by dog trail to bring in after frezze up. Just like the oil producers know,,transportation is easier on the ice in winter than across spongy tundra in summer

In the winter I shovel snow into large plastic trash cans and bring inside cabin to melt into water. also U have a large pot on top of wood stove to melt snow and ice.
