In reference to safety, I havent read much about color preference (clothes/packs) for ladies. Is it more desirable to "blend in" in neutral tones (brown/tan/khaki) or "stand out" (red, yellow, royal blu)?

I like to blend in, except during hunting season, then I like to stand out.

And "stand out", at least during hiking season, means that you're wearing blaze orange; in fact, in many cases, this is required. It's amazing how few A.T. hikers do this, even in well-known hiking seasons.

When I was boring "Oldkathy" I wore beige or fossil green. Now that I'm "Red Hat" I stand out in my purple and red.

I dont particularly care what colors my clothing is, but I prefer my sleeping bag, hammock and backpack be nature-colored for two reasons: It makes stealth camping easier, and I think it's safer if nobody can determine my gender by simply looking at my set-up in camp, especially now that I'm a solo.

For solo hikers, bright colors for shirts, rain gear, down sweater, cold gear. They can't rescue you if they can't see you. Stealthy colors for tent though.

Most of the time, I'd prefer to blend in. But if it's a new trail or if with just 1 hike buddy, I'd prefer to put on colors that contrast against the trail surroundings.
