Here's a new on line data book with 2,485 locations for you. It can be found at postholer.com/ATDatabook (http://postholer.com/ATDatabook)
This is not meant to compete with the other excellent data books out there. This is just another source with an obscene number of locations. It has no off trail info.
It's divided into 23 sections with a elevation profile for each section. It has description, mileage, distance to next, true bearing to next and elevation. Types of locations are shelters, trailheads, summits, gaps, ridges, valleys, named linear water, waterbodies/springs within 300 feet of the trail, all roads crossed, forest/wilderness/county/state boundaries crossed and departure to resupplies. You'll probably find some other stuff as well.
If it doesn't suck too bad I'll put it into PDF form for download if folks want.
