View Full Version : Looking at Gossamer Backpacks
I am looking for my first pack for a 4-week section hike next year. I am 5'3" and heavy. Considering about getting the Gossamer Gorilla or Gossamer Mariposa. The pack and belt are purchased separately so I can get different sizes. I would appreciate your feedback please.

I like my Mariposa but it's bigger than I needed on a 33-day hike last summer. I'll probably get a smaller GG pack next time. It depends how much gear you have and how heavy it is. I ran into one minimalist CDT thruhiker using a tiny GG pack.
I've carried 27# in my Gorilla on a 5 day trip. No issues for me at that weight. It was stuffed full. Most of my trips I carry 20# or so for 3 days just me.
It just depends on how bulky and heavy your gear is. When I need to carry some of my wife and youngest sons gear I'll jump up to my ULA Catalyst.
