There's already a trail that follows the Rio Grande, with part of its route running from El Paso to just north of Albuquerque -- it's called I-25:rolleyes:.

But seriously, if the trail really follows the Rio Grande it would parallel the CDT, always staying well east of it and at a much lower elevation -- it would make a nice contrast. It would be pretty hot in the summer, I would think. But the more trails the better, and I hope they can make it work.

Since it's to be a "multi-use" trail I'm guessing it will be geared more for people on bicycles than people hiking.
