I have read some books on long distance hiking. And I have some relatively small but relatively rich practical hiking experience.
So my question is addressed mainly to reals pros who have read the same books as I did. (And that's why they understand what I'm asking about.)
What important things related to long distance hiking are not covered by these books?

Books that I found the most useful:
- "Long Distance Hiking" Dan Feldman
- "Mountain Weather" Jeff Renner
- Oxford Handbook of Expedition and Wilderness Medicine
- "Backpacker's Handbook" Chris Townsend

There are a couple of works discussing light weight backpacking, like this one (http://www.amazon.com/Backpacking-Light-Beginners-Ultralight-Minimalist-ebook/dp/B00C7AENR2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1425489068&sr=8-3&keywords=the+ultralight+backpacker). I wish I knew about these techniques a few decades earlier in my hiking career.

Physical Training: Book: "Training For Peak Performance" Clyde Soles. Being fit made a huge difference for me.
