I'll be traveling from Baton Rouge to Georgia mid March for my hike, preferably starting March 15th. If anyone is passing through on their way from out west, I'd love to hitch a ride with you.
Fall back plan is to catch the train.
I thru-hiked two years ago and will be hiking GA to PA this time around.
Thanks!

Megabus New Orleans to Atlanta $40.
cheaper than dirt.

Leave during the week, rates are even lower. Take MARTA from the Civic Center destination to the northern Terminal and get a shuttle.
PS You can also get MegaBus from Baton Rouge to NO
Take a look at rideshare on craigslist,

Actually the last time I bought dirt was for my asparagus bed. A 40 lb bag was about $1.50 about 5 gal. I guess it's mostly the transportation costs.

I've decided to take the Megabus (great idea!) to Atlanta, then take Marta to visit cousins in Marietta for a couple of days.
Unfortunately they won't be able to bring me to Springer Mtn. Is anyone aware of shuttle services from the northernmost Marta reachable point? I think it's Alpharetta, GA.
I'm on a much tighter budget this time around so I'm trying to do this as cheaply as possible.
