A smidge of paprika does wonders. I usually carry just salt and pepper packets though.

I could add that the Turmeric in curry has been shown to relieve joint inflammation.

To quote Shepherd from Firefly... "The important thing is the spices. A man can live on packaged food from here 'till Judgment Day if he's got enough rosemary."

I use the condiment packets when I can, my standards are mustard and mayo, sometime relish and chopped onions, a occasional hot sauce. And grape jam packet is the only way to eat the freeze dried eggs for me.
I have not done much with spices.

I always carry one of these: http://domsoutdoor.com/gsi-lexan-pepper-mill/p/1-067732/ Don't laugh (at least not too much). The silly thing works. In fact, I use it in the kitchen here at home, for specialty peppercorns. It's got green ones in it right now.

I carry a one-handed pepper grinder (http://www.allmodern.com/Kikkerland-One-Handed-Pepper-Grinder-PM02A-L640-K~KKL1691.html?refid=GX46109959636-KKL1691&device=c&ptid=98929947436&gclid=CLfS5LHj5MQCFZQvgQoddVoA9w) too. Excellent Christmas present from my wife one year.

This is a book I recommend for anyone wanting to learn about the history of the spice trade. Jack Turner nails it!

It's adjustable, from fine to cracked. Takes a bit of fiddling, but you can get pretty much any grind you want.

Thanks, been looking at that one for a while now...nothin' like fresh cracked pepper while away from the home mill.
