I never had the original MT100's or the MT101's. I have read much about the original MT100's. There was a rumor last year that the MT100's would make a return this year. Instead, the MT101's returned. Here is a video review of the new MT101's.

I am seeking advice from those that had the original MT100's. What do you think of this new model and did you ever compare the original MT100's to the original MT101's?

Bumping once in hopes of 1st hand knowledge from someone. If this does not produce, I will let it cycle off the board.

Okay? Why? Any details? Have you tried other New Balance trail runners? How did they compare? What was good about the MT101's? Don't leave me wondering. :)

Thanks for the tip. He has been helpful to me in the past. Not sure he knows it. He pointed out the best stealth (legal) spot I have ever seen. I could send him a thanks for that too.

They were light weight, toe box fit my feet quite well, and the sole/tread was strong enough to run on gravel without feeling every rock. My only complaint was that the heel cup tended to ride high on my Achilles, which initially caused some chafing but never caused any significant issues.

When mine wore out, I tried a couple of similar new balance shoes but had poor results. I switched to the merrell barefoot trail glove no it's been great.

However, it appears that new balance is back in business - current MT101s look similar and may be worth trying.

Thank you globetruck. I prefer a high back to my trail runners. That should not be an issue for me. I can't have a shoe that comes near the bones high on the sides of my ankles. Not sure what they are called. I have a very high instep and wide feet. I need the high back to keep the shoe from sliding around and the heel from rubbing up and down. The factory outlets in Maine do not have them yet. I will let people know if I find them in any store.
