Looking at my options online: it seems I can find some base layer options with 70(poly)/30(wool) for around 20 bucks, and full wool for around 50. Warmth and weight differences?

I know the full wool would wick better, and be a little lighter, but they never seem to post weights.

I'm a big fan of the Rab Merco blend. best of both worlds. Not super cheap but you get what you pay for. I like wool a lot but it seems to wear out noticeably quicker than synthetics under hard use.

I really enjoy full wool but that's a choice I make for personal enjoyment and just suck it up that I'll be carrying more weight, especially when wet.

I sure like 100% Merino wool in cooler weather, but for warmer weather use, I actually prefer the blends. I'm heading out for a month on the AT next week (NJ and north), will take the 100%, but if I were going a bit later, I'd be taking a blend.
