View Full Version : Katahdin Stream Campground
Probably a dumb question but you can park a vehicle at Katahdin Stream while you camp right? And I assume the parking lot is situated somewhere away from sites?
They have several campgrounds such as Roaring Brook, Abol, Katahdin Stream just to name a few, most of the roads are in close proximity to the sites, you do have to make reservations for parking, camping, and hiking atleast 2 weeks in advance for day, weekend use.

5.2. Within each campground or picnic area, all vehicles must park in designated areas. A maximum of two vehicles may park at each campsite for which parking space is provided. No vehicle may park on the traveled portion of any Park road, or obstruct a designated parking space.5.3. All vehicles must display an entrance permit while in the Park. Vehicles parked overnight without an entrance permit displayed or with an invalid permit may be towed away at the owner's expense.

the three leantos and two tent sites are the most private (1,2,3,24,25). the lean tos along the Hunt Trail are not quiet although the face away from the trail, there is a constant stream of people walking by from dawn to dusk.
One caveat bout parking is that if you drive to Roaring brook while staying at Katahdin stream, you have to get there before the day use parking area fill up which is very early in the morning. Same applies for Abol but since the trail relocation is not scheduled to be open until late fall, there isn't much demand to hike from there.

Good advice above, especially the Roaring Brook parking situation. Another reason the lean-tos are noisy is because they face and are close to the stream. Tent sites 16 and 17 are the best.
