What solo package is best for a solo hiker? The 2 Qt, or 3 cup package?

While I use a 2 qt, There are typically 2-3 of us. For one person I would use the 3 cup package. Two qt for one person is a bit of overkill.

Two qt for one person is a bit of overkill.

Agreed - I travel with MSR's titan kettle and a cup - plenty for one person!

the 3 cup/1 liter cooksets are more than enough for most longterm hiking situations. i started with the larger one then downsized for the weight savings.

2 quart or 3 cup? It depends on your cooking style and preferences.

I usually carry a 2 quart pot. I pack it with all my cooking gear (stove, lighter, tongs, cup, spoon, and towel. That way, when it's time to cook, I only need to grab one thing out of my pack.

Go with the 3 cup if you're basically boiling water for yourself. I'd only go with the 2 quart if you were making a lot of big 1-pot meals. Even then I'd probably look for a 1.5 quart.

i use a walmart grease pot when with my daughter, titan kettle when alone... grease pot has plenty of room for a "lipton noodles and sauce' and meat meal... i think the water and mix come up about halfway on the pot before i put it on the stove...i also have used an MSR blacklite set, and the smaller pot (1.5l) has plenty of room to make a meal for 2.if you can, borrow some 1, 1.5. and 2l pots from someone and try cooking your camping meals in them. doesn't have to be actual camping cookware... a 2qt revereware pot is the same capacity as a 2qt msr blacklite... you get the idea... (just remember to leave enough room for boiling over! that's the only drawback to my titan kettle... gotta watch it more closely...)

I use the 3 cup AGG pot. It is cheap and works great. Nearly everything I cook takes 2 cups of water or a little less. The pot works as cook pot and as dish.

A 1 quart or .9 liter for me, so I guess 3 cup. I have used a 720ml before with success, but my .9L is lighter. 2 Quart is way large for one, unless you eat a monster pot of grub.

I have both and take the 3 cup when going solo. For 2, or when I'm winter camping and need to melt snow, I take the 2 quart. They're both excellent pots especially for the money.
