I am experimenting with new backpacking meal recipes and find myself needing to order some Cheese powder.

Do you have a favorite? Is there a brand I should avoid? Is it all the same stuff with different labels?

Is Butter powder something different from Butter Buds?

Check out Hoosier Hill Farms as a potential source -- http://www.hoosierhillfarm.com/Baking-Cooking/b/6268317011?ie=UTF8&title=Baking+%26+Cooking&field_brandtextbin=&field_subjectbin=&field_color_map=&field_price=&field_size_name=&searchRank=salesrank&searchSize=12&searchPage=1&searchBinNameList=brandtextbin%2Csubjectbin%2Ccolo r_map%2Cprice%2Csize_name

These guys are really good, have good prices on dried veggies too, and you don't have to buy a lot.

I'm trying out the Frontier Natural Products Co-Op "White Cheddar Cheese Blend" in my couscous mix in the next couple of days. Found on Amazon. (Gonna go with 4 tbsps per cup of couscous. Not going to pre-mix with water.)

I second this. I've carried Barry Farms Cheddar Cheese powder with me around the world many times. It makes great Mac and Cheese and wonderful cheese popcorn. I would say it is GREAT stuff.

Not cheese but "Molly McButter" butter sprinkles are pretty good. You gotta reconstitute them with hot water (or put on moist food) but if you get it right, it turns into liquid butter.

Oh, and since I can't seem to edit my posts...

Look at Kernel's brand popcorn seasoning:

Maybe I have not slept enough but, if you took out the r of the pantry part of firehousepantry
it would be a much different site.
