owfinc.com seems to only have silicon coated nylon,, not silicon impregnated,,,,, & thru-hiker.com has the right stuff, just not in the gray/silver that I want. Google didn't bring up any other sources. Any other suggestions??

I'm pretty sure that "impregnated" is just marketing speak. Coated should be just as waterproof. Off the top of my head, you might check out Seattle Fabrics, Rocky Woods, and Quest. They might stock silnylon as well. Dave Olsen of Oware also has some for cheap every now and then, large [.5-2 sq yds] scraps sold by the pound.

To my knowledge (& I may be wrong here), impregnated in injected in the nylon & gives better protection,, whereas coated is simply sprayed on.

I'm with Whistler. I do not beleive that there is any 1.1oz "coated" silnylon. However, I do beleive there is (possibly) 1.9oz nylon with a silicone coating...maybe on one side?

I have about 15 yards of silver-gray, 1.1 oz silicone impregnated nylon from a roll I bought. Its the same stuff that Shires tarptents are made from. I think it was 6 bucks a yard. How much do you need?

i've painted my own 1.1 oz nylon, and don't believe there's much difference between 'silicon impregnated' nylon and 'silicon coated' nylon... i'm lucky... my dollar rack at the local walmart often turns up the 1.1 oz stuff... but it's OD Green, not silver/grey... but i've heard others find other colors at their local stores... you might email the folks at JRB, pan and smee... they probably have a really good handle on suppliers and inventory...

Thanks Swift,, 8 yards should do it. What's the roll width?

Do you still have the silicone impregnated nylon. If so, how much, what cost, shipping and payment?

Speer Hammocks (http://www.speerhammocks.com) in Marion, NC is an excellent source for sil. Ed keeps tons of it on hand for sale as well as for use in his business. Check out the Hammock Supplies page (http://www.speerhammocks.com/Products/Supplies.htm). Hope this helps.
