Hello! I'm double checking Hostels for my Virginia AT hike that starts in mid-August.
Could folks let me know if the Happy Hiker Hollow Hostel in Atkins, VA is still open?

no. closed. best bet is a motel in Marion, 8 miles away

The ReLax Inn is still open.
New hostel not yet in the books: Quarter Way Inn located in Ceres, VA run by former thruhiker Tina. They are located just a few trail miles north of Atkins. Here is their website:

Yeah, the Relax Inn is still open. I would likely head into Marion. There is also a Comfort Inn in Atkins itself. I would likely head into Marion. :)
When you get to the Partnership Shelter, there is a phone at the forest service headquarters building next door. You can call the local transit authority, and they will pick you up for a couple of bucks and drive you to Marion, a large town up the road. There are several motels and large grocery stores, all within walking distance. The transit folks will take you back the next day.
If you don't want to go into town from the Partnership Shelter, you can just hitch from Atkins into Marion.
