Public transportation: Damascus to AT Lodge in Millinocket

I will be starting a SOBO thru hike on July 12-14.

Being new to the east and looking into the best way to get from Damascus area to AT Lodge in Millinocket.
I will be hiking with friends ending up in Damascus on the 5th July. cheaper is better also. I have some days to get there, so bus train etc is OK.

Best and cheapest are two different things.

I would fly to bangor and take the cyr bus to medway. Others dont mind 24+ hrs of the dog, with multiple changes, not my favorite thing. And im pretty cheap.

You want to go to medway, me. The at lodge will pick you up there.

Get to Boston by plane, train, or bus. Then Concord coach or Greyhound bus from Boston to Bangor, ME, then Cyr bus from Bangor to Medway/Millinocket.
