I did a quick search and didn't find anything. Then again, I can't find the mustard container in the fridge when it is right in front of me so don't be too hard on me if I missed it. :)

Be alert hikers around Monson, Maine for the guy wanted for murder who is still on the loose.

For some reason "it" won't let me link the website story but it can be found on the bangordailynews.com website...at least today, but the site has a good search feature. Anyway, just a heads up in case you or anyone you know is in the area.

Doubtful hikers need to worry too much about this guy. His anger seems to have been directed at his ex. Here is the article Trainguy couldn't link:

"MONSON, Maine — As the search for a local man wanted in connection with the death of his ex-girlfriend (http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fbangordailynews.com%2F2015%2F06 %2F05%2Fnews%2Fpiscataquis%2Fpolice-seek-man-in-connection-with-womans-homicide-in-parkman%2F&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNF3BwyIPv39AAUj59NKDx28nMv2HA&ref=inline) entered its 13th day, his family released a statement on Wednesday asking him to stop running from police.

Robert Glenn Burton, 38, also known as Robert G. Elliot, is facing a murder charge in connection with the death of Stephanie Ginn Gebo, 37, whose body was found on June 5 at her Parkman home.

“We plead for Robbie to immediately turn himself in to the police,” stated Roger Burton, the wanted man’s father, and his family, in an email sent to the Bangor Daily News by another family member who asked not to be identified.

“We are deeply saddened by Stephanie’s tragic death and the continued chain of events,” the statement continued. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her children, family and friends at this difficult time, and will continue to be. We continue to cooperate fully with the Maine State Police in any way we can, to support the apprehension of Robbie.”

The massive manhunt for Burton involved law enforcement agencies from Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts on Tuesday, said Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

“The search continues,” McCausland said Wednesday in a 4:15 p.m email, noting Massachusetts state troopers had returned home but New Hampshire troopers had agreed to stay an extra day. He said the Burton family’s statement “speaks for itself.”

The last known evidence that police are willing to discuss connecting Burton to the heavily wooded area was discovered more than a week ago when a stolen truck that they believe he was driving was recovered stuck in the mud at the end of his father’s driveway in Monson.

The Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office continued to use all available (http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fbangordailynews.com%2F2015%2F06 %2F16%2Fnews%2Fpiscataquis%2Fpiscataquis-county-deputy-says-murder-suspect-is-very-woods-wise%2F&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNF9UO8dH8YPsSADcXRBN9LPEAdEpw&ref=inline) personnel in the search, and Maine State Police and the Maine Warden Service maintained an incident command post at the Parkman town office.

The body of Ginn Gebo, who had broken off the relationship with Burton a week before her death, was found in her Kulas Road home (http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fbangordailynews.com%2F2015%2F06 %2F05%2Fnews%2Fpiscataquis%2Fpolice-seek-man-in-connection-with-womans-homicide-in-parkman%2F&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNF3BwyIPv39AAUj59NKDx28nMv2HA&ref=inline) in Parkman by her young children. They are staying with their maternal grandparents, and a family friend has set up a GoFundMe account (http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gofundme.com%2Fwy7p56x&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNH_CwUCxOeRB_0Ihk0EgQ4GHMFFjg) to raise money for their care.

Burton is known to local law enforcement (http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fbangordailynews.com%2F2015%2F06 %2F15%2Fnews%2Fpiscataquis%2Fda-talks-about-murder-suspects-violent-history-as-manhunt-continues%2F%3Fref%3DrelatedSidebar&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNGG0AT1p6ccbn1eMM7pjLci8Jumug&ref=inline), which dealt with him in 2000 for domestic violence terrorizing involving another local woman, and in 2002, when he was on the run for 12 days after threatening the woman’s mother with a rifle and knife before fleeing into the woods.

When he was found at an abandoned camp in Willimantic, it was the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office’s negotiation team that convinced Burton to surrender. He went to prison for 10 years, getting out on June 3, 2011, and was put on probation for four years. Burton’s probation ended on June 4, and he is accused of taking Ginn Gebo’s life the following day.

The search expanded into Willimantic on Tuesday, McCausland said.

Burton is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes, and he sometimes wears glasses. He is considered to be armed and dangerous, and state police advised area residents to lock their homes and vehicles and report any suspicious activity. Anyone who sees Burton should call state police at 973-3700 or 911."

Here is a picture of the police's suspect.

It always drives me crazy when I threads warning about Joe Blow but what the person looks like is left unknown.

Does anyone know if the manhunt includes the AT corridor?

I was thinking that it must, but since there were no alerts on the ATC site, and so little mention on hiking sites I am thinking my assumption might not be correct.

On the face of this-- ex con with 10 year in stir, considered armed and dangerous by police, alleged killer who has history of eluding law in the backwoods of Maine around Monson, and the fact that he abandoned a car because he was stuck in the mud in Monson-- I would think so.

But who knows?

But with them bringing in search team from out of state?

I am befuddled.
