I prefer to hike in shorts but think I may need lil leg warmth for a sept JMT thru? Debating wether to bring both cap1 and lt weight compression leggings or just 1 pair lil heavier kind ie under armor cold gear. Used for sleep and if gets too cold. Not bringing rain pants..ups rain wrap only.. Don't like convertible pants.

I did the JMT in late Aug. through mid September last year. I only needed smart wool base layer in camp. I did wear rain pants one day due to the cold wind and rain, but honestly, once you start hiking, you will be plenty warm.
