My son is dying to get back out for a few days. I feel confident he can do 8-12 mpd. Thinking of Davenport gap to hot springs....36 miles 3-4days......is this section tough, scenic, worthwhile for an energetic kid. Other than Max patch??? Will be tenting not using rat traps. Current trail and water conditions? Looking like the 3rd week of July. Any other sections I should consider....no gsmnp....my 4 legged bear killer..is coming also. I plan to take him to do 40 mile section north of Damascus this fall to see the ponies.
