Signed up to be a product tester. They send you product to use, you return when asked to and provide feedback. Thinking about buying the Columbia WP Redmond hiking boot and saw this on their website.

Why would anyone want to test stuff they have to give back at the end?

You are providing feedback in exchange for the footwear, so you should get to keep it. I don't get it.

Wear analysis perhaps.

When I see Columbia, I think middle-of-the-road gear for weekend warriors. Gear high on buzzword features, low on performance. YMMV.
They honestly dont make anything Id consider buying, or testing, that has to do with hiking.

They make nice cotton cargo shorts, but I wouldn't use them for hiking.
I have a Columbia fleece and synthetic t-shirt that work just fine. But then it's hard to mess up a fleece and a t-shirt.

Why was this posted under Hammocks as it has nothing to do with them ?
