The elevation page miles and the features area miles on detail pages do not match. they are like 3-4 miles different. Does anyone know what miles are right? Trying to plan a hike and figure were to camp. Thanks if you know!

it might be nice to know what area your looking at and what's wrong with camping at designated sites like shelters?

Buy AWOLS book and compare . Note any discrepancies and move on.

Yes, the baseline miles below the profiles are off and table miles show actual trail miles. Otherwise, except where noted, distances between points on the profiles is correct 99.5% of the time (just not official mileage).
The 2016 edition will address the discrepancies.
