Does anyone have this information? I would like to look this up on Terra Server. Are these and other coordinates already discussed here on WB somewhere? Thanks.

I have the Garmin topo maps and have been getting the coordinates of all the shelters listed on the WB site. I takes some time to find the shelter, but I'm slowly plodding through. I'll pass this on to troll and Rock when finisher.

In the meantime, if you need the coordinates of anywhere in the US or Canada let me know and I'll see if I can get it for you.

I prefer UTM or MGRS (a military refinement of UTM) formats myself. Decimal precision and simplicity. Most GPS systems will automatically convert from one standard to another with the push of a button, so if you navigate by UTM and need to call in an air rescue, you can convert your position to Lat/Long for the aircrews to find you. UTM is easiest to deal with on USGS topos.

I agree Iceman, I don't have a GPS yet. My mapping program will give them in lat/lon, UTM/MGRS and many many more. Just let me know what you need.

Coords for the shelters are available on ATC site : http://www.appalachiantrail.org/site/c.jkLXJ8MQKtH/b.851255/k.4226/Appalachian_Trail_GIS_and_GPS_Data.htm

however I am unsure about the use restrictions of the ATC data so an independent source may be of more value to WB.

Thanks for the link, I'll use it as a comparison when I finish with mine.
