I have been planning and reading and putting off an attempt at the AT for 5 years now. 2016 is my year as finances, health and life seam to finally be lining up. I am looking to network and find somebody to set off with as I will be solo hiking. I am not looking to glue myself to anyone or vice versa. Just think the support at the start would be helpful. Who is hiking 2016 starting at Springer?

I'm willing to start out with anyone. My friend got into med school so he is no longer attempting a thru leaving me to starting out alone.

Kinda far out for me to pick dates but I'm looking to start in the month of March. If you wanna check back with me say January/February I could be more definite with you.

Good for you that "the stars have aligned" for you to finally chase this dream. Good luck and maybe see you on the trail. I'm considering at least a 3 week hike from Springer in early March. My stars are still trying to align.

All indications are there will be between 30 and 50 people a day starting from the end of February until May, so there will be no lack of other hikers to hook up with once you get there.

If you plan on doing the trail in 46 days, 6 hours, 6 minutes to take the record, no one you hook up with will be able to keep up.

I haven't booked flights yet but will likely be starting on or around 30th March :)

Happy to hike with anyone who doesn't mind my North-English accent.

I am flying into Atlanta on March 6th at 6 PM and I catching Amtrak N/B to Gainesville. Arrive there at 9 PM. Both tickets in hand. I will be looking for a place to stay there that night and approach trail on the 7th. NOBO AT on the morning of the 8th. I will be starting solo as well. Can't wait to see you all and any who are starting that day are welcome. Trail name will be Bright Side.

As I've said many times before, I highly recommend the HikerHostel in Dahlonega. Phone 770.312.7342. What makes them so attractive is the package deal they offer. Pickup at the train station, bunk for the night, killer breakfast, and ride to the trailhead.

I contacted the Hiker Hostel but they will not pick up that late. If I stay on the 7th, I will be losing a day. I have heard really good things about their hostel though.

Hey There Trail Folk," Hoboahikin" here.
At the young age of 66 and a few months, I will continue my thru hike.Done many miles in various places from Maine to Georgia, recreation hikes including the 100 mile wilderness. Rewarding indeed, but I still dream of a thru! I did a lot of volunteer work many years ago with the crews from Konnarock way back in the early 90's. We had fun! We were fun!
So, I will be back either at Springer or Clingmans. Got off the trail there during a thru attempt way back in 93. Times have certainly changed, but the will is still strong even if my back is a bit weaker!
I will be singing my song, hope to hear yours as well!

Personally I would not start a thru Hike until mid April at the earliest. What is the rush. If your able to hike the trail in 6 months that is what I would do but to each person hiking; Hike your own Hike.. good luck and stay warm

Be great to start in April but have time constraints which make for a February 1st start. It's all good....

Hi all,
I'm planning on beginning my NB thru-hike in mid March to early April. If there are other solo female hikers beginning then, let me know and I'd be glad to begin our hikes together.

Hey Pauly J! I'm flying into Atlanta on March 30th from Vancouver, BC, and plan to begin hiking on April 1st. Let me know if you'd like to meet up and possibly share the first day or so of hiking together. It's always helpful to go through the first steps with someone. I'm 35, female and from Canada.
