Home for a couple of nights between trips and thought anyone heading up might be glad to know that the black fly bloom seems to be dying down. The thick clouds from a few weeks ago were reduced to just a few strays. Mosquitoes and deer flies on the other hand are thick. Come prepared to do battle or bring an extra pint to donate :)
Last weekend, the black flies were not too bad. Didn't see many deer flies until we went to The Ledges. Didn't see swarms of black flies until the summit of Hamlin and then they were as bad as I can remember.

The col between Hamlin and Baxter seem to be a great refuge for them. Walk fast through there. It is flat there anyways.
