I thought this looked interesting, a portable wind turbine. Not something I'd carry, but maybe someone else...

Next time your phone battery dies, give it a boost with your very own wind turbine. A graduate from West Virginia has designed a portable charger that can be powered by the ‘slightest of breezes’ and is designed to fold up and fit in a backpack.
Called Wisp, the turbine measures just 14 inches (36cm) when folded and weighs 4lbs (1.8kg) but extends to a staggering 6ft tall (1.8 metres) when deployed.

4+ lbs, wonder if that includes the pole. It does look like there should be some serious room to lighten that thing, and it would be great to recharge at night while one sleeps instead of try to do the solar recharge while hiking.

I have a 4 ounce Mophie that gives me an EXTRA 120% of battery capacity. I can go at least 2, maybe 3 days of very heavy use - YouTube and all.

4 lbs works out 16 Mophies, or 1920%!! Why would one carry a heavy windmill and hope for a breeze when it would weigh less to just carry a battery?

I think I'd like one. (I do other camping besides backpacking) A couple of solar panels and this = power independence!

Why is it when someone has a power or smartphone question some people feel the need to make such a posting???
