I just came across this website backpacking-united.com a lot of their prices are way cheaper than other websites like REI and backcountry.
anyone ever bought something from them and can verify they are a legit company?

This is a German based company. You'd atleast get VAT exempted prices, but any savings would be lost to actual shipping costs of €40-€180 -- http://www.backpacking-united.com/us/ship/

And DHL sucks for shipping.
