Where exactly is the gravel parking lot just outside the main entrance of Pen Mar County Park? A rep at the Washington County Parks line couldn't give me specific answer. From what I can gather, the main entrance to the park is just below the PA/MD border, I assume near the corner of Pen Mar High Rock Rd and Waldheim Rd. I don't see a gravel lot on Apple or Google maps (Hybrid version). I just want to make sure I'm dialed into the specific location since I'll be leaving my truck and having a shuttle pick me up there. I'll be hiking Front Royal to Pen Mar soon. Soooo totally stoked!!! On a side note, is that a relatively safe place to park?

Nope, look a bit west.
Look at Penmar/highrock road at Chestnut ave.
The Park's lot is the paved and lined one east of chestnut.
The gravel it the one just north with the tree in it

Sorry, make that south and a bit west of PenMar/Waldheim (just follow PenMar road as it becomes PenMar-Highrock).
I parked there a few times last year for 2 days/1 night with no problems.

Note that this site often gets hung up for various reasons.

Ok,, thanks guys! But I'm getting conflicting info here. Jwright shows the gravel parking lot across the street from the paved lot near Chestnut. Can't find a site that Couscous mentioned. GoldenBear shows a small lot just north of the PA border.

Where is the actual main entrance to Pen Mar Park? The lot I've been instructed to park in (by Washington County Parks) is right outside the main entrance to the park.

The main entrance is at the paved parking at the intersection of Chestnut and Penn Mar High Rock Road.

The gravel area is near the entrance:

Thanks SteelCut, and to all that posted! I was able to pursued Ashley at the Washington County Parks office to bring up google maps and zero in on the exact location, which coincides w/ SteelCut & jwright. Thanks!!!
