It's a lovely day here in the Whites for the start of the holiday weekend, but instead of hiking I'm inside doing drywall. Worse, I'm into the joint compound part of the job. Oh well, I'm sure there are hundreds of people tromping around on the hills across the street. Maybe I'll take a break and join them tomorrow. After all, I need to let the "mud" up on the ceiling to dry real good...

Ya, crystal clear blue sky in MA today, thinking the same thoughts. Instead I got to help my wife hang photos and artwork on her new office today. :( I can't complain I guess, seeing as how she's now the family breadwinner. :)

I'm lucky. It's cold and wet out. After this summer no one is complaining. It takes the sting out of a weekend of house painting.

Slogoen just be thankful you live across the street. I just got back from my first trip to the Whites and I'm super envious. Didn't want to leave!

Drove up to the Grayson Highlands area to do our annual scouting for the Companion. It was a pleasant drive, nice day in the mountains. Now we'll spend the rest of the long weekend relaxing at home. After the last few weeks being crazy at work, it'll be nice.

Aghh, this is only the second Labor Day weekend in 55 years that I have not been in Jefferson or Randolph. Instead I am sanding and polyurethaning floors this weekend. This is the price I agreed to pay for my JMT hike.

Thank God I still have Columbus Day weekend.

Recovering from a foot injury after my PCT section hike two weeks back. Just went and got x-rays this morning, looks like no fracture, just a calcification / bone spur on the outside-midfoot. Surfing WhiteBlaze is almost as good as hiking... right?
