Can I leave my car at Dicks parking lot for a week? I was thinking about parking it there and getting a shuttle back to Neels. Will this work? This will be only my 2nd hike on the trail, my first one was in April from the falls to Neels, it was amazing. I am thinking mid October, I hope it does not get to cold by then.

Sure you can. I will be leaving my car there for 5 days in a couple of weeks.
I've left it there so several overnight hikes. You will be fine!

When are you going? Your car should be safe, based on my experiences. However, the lot is small. Just be aware of this if looking for a spot during a busy time. :)

there were a few problems at the Dicks Creek lot several years ago.. A guy in a red pick-up was thought to be the culprit

Dicks Creek is a great place to leave a car. If you need a shuttle, call Ron Brown 706-669-0919, or 706-636-2825.

Thank you all! I am starting to feel the excitement, I hope I can get my stuff together and make it. I am thinking mid October, thanks for the shuttle advice I am very new to this and have no contacts yet.

My car was fine there last year. I think with Top of GA Hostel right there now, plus Joyce and Sally, and being on a major road there is plenty of traffic/watchfulness to deter much wrongdoing.

I leave my car there all the time. Just did it again over labor day and the place was at overflow capacity. when I got back, I was the only car there! it's a good spot.

Thanks, just put in for my vacation time. Looking to rent a car, going home tonight to go through the pack. I don't know about you guys but I enjoy going through the pack ALOT. I will probably go through it many times before I go. :)
