View Full Version : Siler Bald Shelter (the one closest to Clingmans dome)
Can anyone tell me the water conditions and whether or not this shelter has a privy?

No privy.
No current beta on water, but its a series of seeps on hillside. Not unusual to need to dip it from a puddle

That is incorrect on the privy. It does indeed have a privy, was just there this past week. It is located on a path just downhill from the back of the shelter, and then off to the left.
There is a good water source on the blue blaze trail from the south approach to the shelter (less than 100 yards from the shelter).

My curiosity is peaked. I will certainly take a look! I'm guessing I'll know it when I see it?
I'll be there next Tuesday. Will check it out
