Zpacks quilt vs. EE convert?

Anyone notice how much less down zpacks uses compared to EE for the same temperate rating? Im comparing the 900 fill EE.

I'm not sure that they're that far off. Note that the zpacks bags run really small. The Convert Regular is 64" wide, whereas the zpacks wide is 61" and x-wide is 66". The regular length for the convert is for 6' 6'2" users, which corresponds to a zpacks long. A 20 degree reg/reg convert has 15 oz of 900 fill (14.3 oz of 950 fill). The zpacks 20 degree x-wide/long has 14.3 oz.

I have both a zpacks bag and an EE quilt, and they are both good. I suspect they will have similar lofts for given temperature rating, but would be interested in seeing some data.

Without running the numbers...
Cycle has the right idea.
even if they were dead nuts matches regarding measurements- the 900 vs 950 is a factor.

Keep in mind too, that EE offers 800, 850, 900 fill- make sure you have all the right boxes checked on his website- the calculator thing he's got built into his site is really cool- but can through you off if you aren't paying attention.

Bottom line- they both know what they are doing... In general, EE is said to be a hair conservative on their ratings... so apples to apples I'd expect them to be a bit higher as they tend to have a little more "just in case" than Zpacks.

Ah..didn't see how much wider the convert regular width was. With that in mind, I guess it's still a 3oz difference comparing equal measures. If ee is more conservative, I guess I could attribute those extra 3oz to that. There's an option for 950 on ee, but I'm looking at 900. Zpacks I believe only has 900. Comparing a 10d, with a short slim ee I'm looking at 15oz. With the zpacks regular short I'm looking at 12.5 or 13.5 for reg reg.

Just received two ee enigmas one at 20 and the other 10 for my wife. Very happy with how they turned out. Very well made. Will be purchasing revelation 50s for summer.
