I'm looking into getting a new titanium pot and am wondering if 550ml is big enough? I plan on doing FBC majority of the time, but also want to be able to cook in the pot for things like Pasta Sides and Mac n Cheese

550 is pretty small even for FBC IMO. I have a 700 ml titanium pot and it's perfect. I can boil enough water for my hot food and a cupboard a tea/coffee.

I concur w/ One More. 550 ml is really small to 'cook' in. 700 ml would probably be the smallest that you can 'cook' in. A 900 ml pot is what I use & am happy with (Evernew 0.9L).

I could be wildly assuming here but you might just have at home a pot that is around 550ml or that can be filled to 550ml ...
How about you prepare a meal or two (at home) using the above mentioned pot and the same food/meal you intend to use in the bush and see if it works for you.
My 550ml pot does work for me.

I use the MSR Titan Kettle. It's listed as 850ml. I find it to be the right size for solo use.

I have used the Toaks 550, It works well for boiling, and should for FBC & mountain house meals. It would be difficult to cook in however.

I also like that it is mug shaped as I like a proper mug for morning coffee.

Too small for cooking, will constantly be boiling over. I have a Snow Peak 700 and have used the MSN Titan Kettle and they are too small as well, IMO. When I plan on cooking on the trail I use an Imusa 12cm mug. It's cheap, light weight and large enough to contain a boil. The Evernew Pasta Pot and Snow Peak Trek 900 are good choices if you want titanium.

we just bought an Olicamp annodized Space Saver Mug for about $15, and it holds 3 cups if completely full, and 20 oz to the top gradation. It worked great on our first trip with it.

No. A 700ml pot is enough for FBC, but not quite enough for a pasta side and a bag of chicken inside the pot. Our 800ml Jetboil is not quite big enough for that, either, but if I'm very careful it works.

If it's just FBC, 550ml might be enough.

BTW, I see comments about "we" , I was under the impression that the OP is after a pot for solo use.

I have a few different sized pots and stoves.
The size pot depends on what you want to cook and your stove choice.

I really like my SnowPeak 600ml mug for FBC but it does not heat water as well as my MSR titan kettle due to the width of the pot and my choice of stoves.

The MSR TK is large enough to cook in, small enough for FBC.
Might not be the lightest but not by much. The lid is superior to any other.
I hated the lid when I first got it but the snugness of it has really won me over.
Not just for pouring but for packing.

SnowPeak hot lips fit the MSR TK allowing me to use it for coffee too.

I would use something I could boil up to two cups in, one cup for fbc and the other cup to make coffee, even if I were solo

I have a 900ml evernew. I wouldn't want to cook something like you described in anything smaller.

It doesn't really matter if I'm solo or with my partner, a Knorr side and a bag of chicken takes up the same amount of room in the pot.... :)

+1. Sometimes I find even the 900 ml a bit small.

This is what I use. I have used the Evernew 0.9 (wide and tall versions) and have no qualms, but there's something special about the Titan Kettle.

Just my experience but I have a GSI Halulite that is only 600ml and I find it plenty big enough for FBC. 1 cup of water is equal to 236ml so I basically have a 2 1/2 cup pot. I guess I could see having something bigger if you are trying to FBC and have enough left over for tea or coffee but I just drink water with super and only boil water for coffee in the morning so it works perfect for me.

I started using a 700 Ml ever new pasta pot for FBC. I wouldn't plan on cooking with it though. I would use my wider 1l cook pot.

If you want to cook in the pot I favor 700 cc as an absolute minimum, and prefer 900 cc.
