I use microsoft movie maker - which is free and pretty easy to use. I think music has to be attached as a file (like mp3) so if you can download a music file with spotify then that may work.

I second MovieMaker, Salty. I do all mine that way and just walked my parents through making one of their insane driving adventure to Alaska. If you get stuck shoot me a PM, happy to help. Can't wait to see it! :)

If you are using an Iphone 6 and can download to an I Mac... their photo storage program allows very simple slide show options. If you wish to get just a little deeper into it, there is I Movie. I have watched a few "tutorials" on you tube that cover the editing that can occur in I Movie. The final product can be stored in a Library and be uploaded to a You Tube Account at the same time. As is typical, if you have Apple go I Movie... if PC than probably MovieMaker is for you. Does anyone know if this MovieMaker can be downloaded for free on the IOs plateform?

I use an app on my iPhone called "Perfect Video" and I think this would suit your needs perfectly. Below is a short video of a hike I did that I made with the app so you can see.

MovieMaker usually comes WITH Windows. I have Windows 8 and had to kind of look for it, but it's there. If my 73 year old mom can do it, anyone can!

My son uses iMovie on his iPhone, I haven't messed with that but I like big screens anyway... ;)

Thanks for this possibility. Looks like it has potential. A couple of questions? Are you able to do this on your phone directly, or do you download ur video and pictures to work on a computer? Can you add music? Finally, did you use any added mic to your phone when taping your voice? (I think the Life Proof cover is interfering with the ability to record quality sound).

This may be worth the minor cost of the app. Thanks!

I did everything on the phone. You can add voiceover, music, pictures, etc. I did not add any extra mic for my voice. It's a really easy app to put together videos. This is most likely the video maker I will use for my Thru next year. I can lay in my tent at night and put together a video and save it for upload when I get wifi.

What kind of computer are you using? I used to use a copy of Adobe premiere I found on the net. Great program and it will do some awesome stuff, but it's overkill for a lot of home stuff. They offer an online subscription service now, you get everything they have for like $20/month.

If you are using windows, Microsoft provides a movie making program, but I never really tried it out because I was using adobe.

I'm using an iMac now, and it has a decent movie production software called iMovie. Its a very cut down version of adobe but its perfect for simple movies/slideshows. It will link to your vimeo and youtube accounts and will change sizes for you in case your video is too big.

I usually just use Mp3 files as background music. I record directly from my XM radio's output so I have a LOT of MP3s.(a couple of thousand I would guess), but you can also record music straight off of youtube with an add-on to firefox, or even a simple program called "easy mp3 recorder" that will make an mp3 file out of whatever audio comes off the digital output side of your sound card.

I've never tried to make a movie directly on the phone... that actually sounds a bit like hell to me, no matter how it comes out.

I made most, if not all, of my vimeo movies with iMovie. Be careful with your background music though, because I just checked, and they denied one of my videos that had a song by U2 as the background music. Be prepared to use something not as popular!

Yeah, for Windows, Movie Maker is easy and free and will do most of the basic stuff.
